Come one, come all! We’re happy to announce that Petalena will be doing flower classes starting in 2011! We’re so excited to be able to share our love of flowers with you!
Tired of arrangements from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods? Yearning for something a little more special and unique? This class is for you!

- Learn how to create whimsically elegant and organically styled floral arrangements using a rotating selection of seasonal blooms chosen by Petalena.
- 3 hour workshops will include all flowers and container as well as floral instruction.
- Each class is thematic around a few wonderful varieties of flowers (For example this spring we’ll focus on the incredible varieties of tulips, narcissus, and hellebore that are available.)
- During each class we will introduce the kinds of flowers featured (and advice on how to work with them), how to create a color palette, layer textures, and ‘build’ a floral design.
Most of all, it will be a lot of fun talking about and working with gorgeous flowers!

Apryl and I have been thinking about other ways beyond weddings and special events to bring beautiful flowers to people. Since we’re a design studio rather than a store, we don’t sell weekly bouquets to people – but we still understand the importance of having fresh flowers around on a daily basis, not just for the big events like weddings, birthdays and showers.
So, a few months ago we came up with the idea of offering floral design classes! Here are few photos from our first one:
Spring arrangement design for floral design class
Above is the arrangement Apryl designed for the class and taught everyone to do. It is filled with spring tulips, peachy-pink stock, and interesting foliage – it’s a fun exuberant arrangement of the season.

The class was held at a host’s home for her friends as a fun get together. We bring everything – the containers, flowers, and tools – and then show everyone how to arrange a bouquet (which they then get to take home and enjoy of course!). It’s a fun thing to do for any reason, but I think it would be really perfect for a wedding shower or birthday celebration!
