Small Scale – A Re-emerging Trend?
I wonder if part of the appeal of the small is the time we’re in. People are thinking about ways to scale back their lives, live more carefully, more locally. Eat better food, eat less of it (a la Michael Pollan); buy local when you can; walk more, drive less; etc.
I wonder can this trend inspire weddings too in some ways?
But I also think people are simply falling in love with art of small and precious things…
Martha Stewart and her folks are celebrating the small and have been doing that for years. This article came from one of their 2004 Martha Stewart Weddings issues and made it’s way back into their Best Of issue which came out this year. One of our January 2009 brides would like small posie bouquets for her own bouquet and her bridesmaids too. It’s such a great way to go, especially when the bride and/or bridesmaids are petite.
About the Bouquet: The bouquet featured here was from the fall of 2007. We loved (and still love!) this bridal bouquet with dried lavender, velvety soft ‘lamb’s ears’ for foliage, ivory and blush hand-wired cymbidium orchids. I would write a whole other post about incorporating herbs in bouquets, so we’ll save that for another day.
