July 2009

We’re so excited! We just got news this week that one of the June weddings we designed for is going to be a featured as a “Real Wedding” in Bride’s Boston Fall 2009/Winter 2010 issue. It hits the stands on September 1st so keep an eye for it!

We so loved this wedding and are so happy more people will get to see how fabulous it was! Thanks to Channing Johnson for such beautiful, beautiful photos. And our bride and groom Jen & Amin for being their amazing selves!

We just finished up a lovely wedding this weekend at the Topsfield Commons for our bride and groom Karen & Vince. They wanted a pretty and not too formal style to their wedding with lovely summer flowers in peaches, oranges, and pinks. We added in fragrant jasmine vine and passion flower vine to the arrangements and bouquet to keep the style feeling loose and garden-y.

The Bouquets:

We just love this color combination – so sophisticated while still being festive and colorful!

While the bride’s bouquet had more of a balance between pink and oranges; the bridesmaid bouquets were a bit more peach and orange – we love doing the bouquets for the wedding party a bit differently so each person has a unique creation.

In this photo above of the bride’s bouquet you can really see all the unique foliage we used – maidenhair fern is the lovely light green whisper thin with fan-shaped miniature leaves. We also used geranium leaves which have a wonderful ruffley and romantic feel to them.

We love doing this style of wedding bouquets – where there is a perfect variety of gorgeous blooms mixed with interesting foliage. The bouquets aren’t the same from every angle and really show off each individual flower and foliage to their best and most beautiful.

The Centerpieces at Topsfield Commons:
The table centerpieces for the reception incorporated the same color palette as what we used for the bouquets. But we also added curly willow with small leafy green bits on their stems. Each arrangement was a bit different from the next, adding up to a very unique and pretty feel:

We always like to see our brides on the day they get married, it is such a special day and we love to have that moment with them – when we come to the hotel or home with their bouquet in hand! It’s always such a happy moment that Apryl & I look forward to as each wedding approaches. Connie Miller of studio atticus took some fun shots of us during one of our June weddings and shared them with us recently:

Apryl was joking with me on this day that I totally matched to the weddings flowers. Looking at these photos, I realize I totally did! The scarf (thanks Anthropologie!) blends with the flowers so perfectly, who knew?

Since peony season is sadly over, I wanted to post a few lovely photos of some of the beauties in our studio over the past few weeks:

And, for those of us who love red too, isn’t it lovely paired with lavender. This might be a new favorite color combination of mine, deep, deep red with pale silvery lavender:

Apryl and I did a teeny tiny wedding this weekend – just a few small simple things for a neighbor’s son who got married. We fell in love with the bouquet – gorgeous and light summery in feeling with a blush pink and sterling silver color palette:

Just a few touches of Dusty Miller gave it an additional touch, framing the bottom of the bouquet just so:

We used quite a few different things here including:

  • Sarah Bernheart (light pink) Peonies
  • Blush Pink Cymbidium Orchids
  • Dark Pink Vanda Orchids
  • Silver Dusty Miller (foliage)
  • Mint

So pretty, we could have stared at this bouquet all day!

We’re completely tickled! A wedding we did last summer was just featured in the Boston Magazine’s “Weddings” issue:

It’s always nice to revisit a wedding we’ve done. Looking through these photos again, ¬†we’re reminded of what a color, festive, and exuberant wedding it was. The bride and groom too were so striking, their photos by Connie Miller at StudioAtticus came out beautifully.

I’m sitting on my back porch as I write this post, enjoying the nice breeze and finally some fantastic sunshine!
We just got photos from photographer Channing Johnson of the wedding we both worked on at the end of June and we posted about earlier. We just love Channing’s eye and style:
